An English translation of Filippo Vadi's 15th-century Italian fencing treatise De Arte Gladiatoria Dimicandi, composed for Guidobaldo da Montefeltro, Duke of Urbino. Vadi's manuscript sits in the same Italian tradition as Fiore dei Liberi, predating and directly influencing the later Bolognese school. It covers a theoretical framework for the longsword (spada da doi mani), plus plays of the sword unarmored and in armor, spear, poleaxe, and dagger.
