The Kingston Arms Fencing Side Sword is a blunted, sparring-ready version of the classic Renaissance side sword — a 16th and 17th century military and civilian sword known for combining efficient cutting with the thrusting reach of its contemporary, the rapier.
Based on an original German side sword design, this version carries a swept hilt for solid hand protection along with blade geometry built for both cut and thrust work. The blade features thick, well-rounded edges and a rolled tip for added thrusting safety — but as with any fencing sword, we recommend adding a rubber tip blunt or a taped leather strip to the tip before sparring, rather than relying on the rolled tip alone.
