Zeughaus Mercenary Steel Breastplate

The Mercenary Steel Breastplate is a polished breastplate handmade from 16-gauge mild steel. It ends near the waist for greater mobility, and its rounded edges reduce snagging and make it safer to wear.

A raised ridge runs down the center of the plate, a feature seen on historical breastplates that also helps turn blows away from the middle of the body. A three-strap leather system holds it in place: the upper two straps cross over the back in an X, and a third strap runs across the back of the waist. The straps adjust to fit a range of body sizes.

Care

This armor arrives covered in protective oil. The oil can be removed, but it must be replaced with another protective maintenance product to prevent rust. Oil the steel occasionally, and coat it with machine oil when storing.
